A Story on it's own.
I keep getting these into my spam folder for at least 15 years now as everyone of you out there obviously.
About ten years ago, being a bored and curious student I wanted to know how this scam works.
So I replied to to one of these billion dollar opportunities.
I got a response...
from a different email account every time I was corresponding with them.
They were asking me to send them $700 through Western Union so they could clear the check
of an insane imaginary million dollar amount ($ 950.000.000) to my checkings account.
I told them that only the rich get richer and this is why I understand why they contacted me
and as an already insanely rich person I don't handle that kind of business on my own.
I informed them that my executive committee will make a stop with my private jet in Ghana next week to pass over the check and receive the cleared money of the dead King or whatever they are claiming the money comes from.
Long story short as soon as they heard the word lawyer they unfortunately stopped mailing me. (FYI I could have gone on for ever!) I even tried to scam them back by telling them to send me $1200 through Western Union so I could be their trusted source in Europe since Ghana does not have a good reputation right know.
Nevertheless people!!! You get business letters from companies as soon as you get you own cellphone (18 the latest) or other monthly expense and you just need to take one of these and compare it to this one and you will see all the thousands of red flags on these three pages.
My concern and the reason I wrote this article after 15 years is that if I still get these emails it implies that there are still people out there who fall for this kind of scam. Dear sheep. Wake up. No one! I repeat. No one!!! is ever going to give you money for free.
